The Process
This project was started in the summer of 2019 mainly as an experiment for a short stylized 2D action sequence. I decided to do something based on Judo and the upcoming 2020 Olympics in Japan because I am a fan of the sport. It was animated primarily on 2’s, but there are a few shots that were done on 3’s. Everything was done from memory and a few sourced Judo stills. No rotoscoping was used. In total the project took 3 weeks to complete. It was first animated in photoshop, then animated and traced & colored a third time in animate. Over 100 frames were used.
